"Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive" - an apt quote to apply to Charley's Aunt.
But what do you do when an unseen millionaire aunt does not arrive from Brazil and you wish to see the girl of your dreams before she goes away? Why, of course you entice your best friend to impersonate the aunt and to act as chaperone. The fact that your friend is male is no obstacle, after all it will only be for a short spell and nothing could possibly go wrong.
However, when the girl's guardian and your own father take more than a passing interest in Charley's aunt and then the real Charley's aunt does arrive - oh what a tangled web is weaved.
How the tangle unravels you must see for yourself by attending one of the productions of this classic Victorian farce at the Civic Theatre, 15th - 19th October.
